Recruitment of civic educators -Narok County

Nguzo Africa empowers, connects and advocates for transformative governance and sustainable development for the prosperity of current and future generations. Nguzo Africa in partnership with Uraia Trust is implementing “Rooting Democracy in Kenya through an Informed Citizenry” – Phase Two in Narok County.  United for Narok project seeks to promote citizen participation, engagement and oversight in Narok county governance processes. 

To realize the project results, we are recruiting Civic Educators in the following wards: 1) Narok Town, 2) Kilgoris Central,3)Ololmasani,  4)Nkareta, 5)Shankoe,  6) Ilkerin,  7)Melelo, 8)Keyian, 9)Kapsasian, 10)Sogoo,  11)Mogondo, 12)Mara,  13)Ilmotiok.  We are seeking to recruit honest, hardworking and patriotic citizens ready to work in the above wards.

The minimum requirements for a civic educator are as follows:

i.Education Level: minimum grade C (plain) at KCSE.

ii.Should be an indigenous/resident of the ward under which s/he applies for. I.e. resides in the ward, understands local language, geographical locations, community diversity etc. 

iii.Should meet the leadership and integrity requirements as per article 10 & 232 of the Constitution of Kenya (2010) including organizational values.

iv.Basic knowledge on the Constitution of Kenya (2010) and democracy and governance context in Kenya.

v.Should have experience in community mobilization, organizing and facilitation skills. 

vi.Not employed by other organization/institution as a full-time employee.

vii.Should not be an official of a political party currently.

viii.Should be available to undertake this work and to travel within the ward as required.

Added Advantage:

ix.Should have at least 2 years’ experience in working on governance, democracy and human rights field (civic/voter educator with another CBOs/CSOs/IEBC, etc).

x.Prior experience in governance, democracy and civic education work.
